Navigating through November: 10 Happy Things

Like literally, the month flew past because my diary was jam-packed with events, catch-up’s with friends, pantomime rehearsals, blogging events and much more.

Honestly, it’s left me feeling a bit overwhelmed and tired – but what a month November has been!

It’s made me feel very lucky and blessed to have so much going on in my life, as well as all the exciting things that have come my way. I actually found it difficult to pick 10 things to mention because there has been so much going on.

Before I waffle any longer and before this post goes on forever, let’s get straight to it:

MK Blogger Christmas Party

I was invited to my first Christmas party of the season (nope, November is not too early!) This was for the Milton Keynes Bloggers Christmas party.

You’re probably thinking: but Nicole, you’re a Northamptonshire blogger!? Yeah, but living where I live, I am smack bang in the middle of Northampton and Milton Keynes. Plus, I have actually been part of the MK Blogger Network for a long time but I have never been able to attend an event… until now.

Organised by Sophie’s Suitcase, we were lucky to dine at The Swan in Salford, where we got to try their Christmas menu. All the food was incredibly tasty and festive (hello first Christmas dinner of the season!)

Plus, I got to mingle with new and old faces.

When I have a moment, I want to do a full detailed write up of the event and the food at the Swan, but thank you, Sophie, for the invite!

Fireworks and friends

The beginning of November is usually surrounded by Bonfire Night, so obviously, myself and a few friends got together to watch the fireworks in Greens Norton.

While it was short and sweet, it was nice to actually go out and support a local fireworks event, as I can’t remember the last time I went to a fireworks display!

However, the night didn’t end there as Josh and I went out for our first night ‘out out’ for a while which was completely spontaneous and lovely to spend time together.

Northampton Winter Food Festival

If you haven’t seen the full post, I was invited to attend the Northampton Winter Food Festival – which really was the foodie event of the season in Northamptonshire.

I managed to purchase some early Christmas gifts, as well as build up my alcohol collection for the festive occasion. I’ve got a full blog post on the day if you want to read more.

Black Friday Sales

Yes to Black Friday Sales!

I got so much from the New Look Black Friday Sale, which means I am kitted out for Winter with cosy knits, nice tops for going out and an absolute DREAM pair of high-waisted black jeans which I can’t stop wearing.

However, I don’t miss the swarm of Black Friday emails landing in my inbox…

The World Skills Show UK

As part of work, I was lucky to have a day out in Birmingham to attend the World Skills Show UK in Birmingham. For those who don’t know, it’s basically a HUGE competition where young adults compete in different challenges from hairdressing and carpentry to engineering and video gaming.

I only wish when I was 16/17, I had this opportunity to go to a show where you get to explore different career options. Because I still don’t believe my school gave me enough options on what I wanted to do after school.

Overall, it was a fab day out and a different day out compared to being in the office!

Saracen’s Head Christmas Fayre

I managed to have a quick look around the Saracen’s Head Christmas Fayre which took place on Saturday 24th November.

I wish I could have stayed longer, but it was such a cute and festive little event that supported local businesses and Etsy sellers – which is so important to support your local businesses, especially around Christmas.

This was when I got to finally meet Judy from Heart Felt Fancies, who was kind enough to contribute some beautiful felt birds and a felt notepad for our Northamptonshire Bloggers Event raffle and goodie bags. I love the birds, as I’ve already used them to decorate my bedroom.

Overall, it was a fab little event and I hope the sellers had lots of success from it!

End of year work event

I had such a fun time at the end of the month at my work’s end of year event in Milton Keynes.

It was a fun afternoon and evening of antics, which ended with going out into MK’s Hub for more drinks and antics! But it was a really nice way to get to know the people I work with, considering I have only been with my company for three months.

We started off with Go-Karting, followed by a meal at the Taipan restaurant in the theatre district, then finally, we watched MK Lightning against the Nottingham Panthers in a game of ice hockey.

I had so much fun, that I managed to get a selfie with the MK Lightning mascot!

Blogging events

This month, I was incredibly lucky and fortunate to fill my diary with lots of blogging events and opportunities!

They are absolutely right when they say one minute sponsored opportunities and events are very little, to get a load all at once! I am certainly not complaining, but it has been a busy month for blogging.

My biggest event this month had to be when I was invited by Debenhams to watch Florence + the machine for their #doabitofDebenhams party wear campaign – which by the way, I am still pinching myself over!

As much as I have been busy and it all looks amazing, it has drained me in terms of the travel to and from events, to the writing the blog post until 11pm. But you know what? I wouldn’t change a thing!

One day, I hope I can be in a position where I become a part-time blogger and have at least one day to focus on my blog (one day, not yet).

Fantastic Beasts

Josh and I watched the latest Fantastic Beasts film in cinema and I won’t lie, I was a little bit worried.

I have heard so many mixed reviews about the film: some people loved it, some people hated it.

My opinion? I thought it was better than the first one!

There was much more Harry Potter magic and references in this film compared to the first, not to mention the appearance of Dumbledore – which FYI, I didn’t think I would ever fancy Dumbledore!

Overall, it was a solid 8 out of 10. A good film and I am eagerly anticipating the next film in the series, as it was left on such a cliffhanger!

Mulled Cider

Simply. The best hot alcoholic drink to get you in the Christmas spirit.

When I found out one of my local pub’s had it available, I had 3 cups!

It’s the best way to get into the Christmas mood and I know I will be treating myself to a lot more mulled cider in the weeks to come.

Tell me what you got up to in November! Are you excited for Christmas now!?

It was so nice to meet you at the MK Blogger’s Xmas Meal! It was also one of my first time attending their events – at least their informal Christmas one anyway. Also, well jealous you got to watch an ice hockey match with work. I used to attend them when I was younger with my sister and have been meaning to see another game for years now! x
