Lamb comes home to Toby Carvery!

Where is the one place you can think of that does a good Sunday roast, is available all across the country and is deemed as the home of the roast…

Well, if you don’t know, that place is Toby Carvery.

This family-friendly chain has a restaurant anywhere you go, so no one is ever too far away from one. Luckily, mine is based only 16 minutes up the road (thanks, Google maps for the precise timing) and you can guarantee you will walk away with full tummies every time.

Last Sunday, I was invited to my local Toby Carvery in Northampton for a very special campaign that has launched today! And I couldn’t be more thrilled to be one of the first people to inform you that…

You may be thinking; isn’t lamb already available at Toby Carvery?

Well, it’s been available for some selected restaurants across the country already, but as part of their Autumn/Winter menu, Toby Carvery are launching their #welcomehomelamb campaign!

They’re taking their four meat carvery to the next level by turning it into a five meat carvery!

When I found this news out, I was ecstatic, as lamb is my favourite choice of meat to have on a Sunday roast, so you can imagine how excited I was to take part in this campaign and to be invited to try it.

Plus, it’s not very often my family and I go out for dinner altogether; so my parents, my boyfriend and I went to tuck into the feast we were about to have (my brother is back at University now, so he missed out – sorry George!)

As expected, we arrived at lunchtime around 1.30pm and it was packed with families; which just goes to show how much of a family place Toby Carvery is.

We were shown to our seats and were instructed on what we needed to do in order to get our roast. It had been a while since I last visited a Toby Carvery, so I needed a reminder and so did my parents, who had never been before.

As we went to queue up, we could see there was so much variety… and then we saw it… the majestic lamb!

It looked like it was a popular choice, as every other voice I heard who approached the bar when asked what meat they wanted said lamb. There was no need to worry though, as there was plenty to go around.

Finally, it was my turn and obviously, I was here for one main reason: to try the lamb. And the chef’s didn’t hesitate to give me as much lamb as possible. The more the better!

As I made my way down the chef’s table, there was so much choice on what to have on the side of my lamb, including a HUGE crispy Yorkshire pudding, which took up most of my plate!

The beauty of Toby Carvery is that there really is something for everyone and there’s always a type of vegetable, potato and gravy to compliment whatever meat you chose.

I struggled to choose what to go for, but eventually, I went for stuffing, broccoli, peas, carrots, onion shallots in gravy, mac and cheese, cauliflower cheese, Yorkshire pudding and a big helping of mint gravy to go with my lamb.

Because you’ve got to go with a mint gravy for lamb, right!?

What can I say about the lamb other than it was pretty damn perfect.

As it was falling off the bone when the chef was carving the meat off, you could see how rare and moist the lamb was and it certainly didn’t disappoint.

Every bite of lamb melted in my mouth and was succulent to the taste – the mint gravy was an added bonus which made the lamb even more irresistible.

I couldn’t fault anything else on my plate, as everything complimented well with each other… even the Mac and Cheese, which I was hesitant about, not being a traditional dish to have with a roast dinner (or is this just me?)

The cauliflower cheese could have done with a few more minutes in the oven, as it was slightly overdone, but I couldn’t fault it whilst it was dripping in cheese and sprinkled with paprika.

Overall, it was a lovely occasion for my parents, Josh and I to go out and enjoy a family roast altogether.

Sunday Roast has always been a way of bringing the family together in our home. Nothing says family time than a roast dinner, but Toby Carvery proves that you don’t have to be at home to enjoy a roast and spend time together.

You can come to Toby Carvery to enjoy a traditional British roast dinner just the way you like it, with the added fifth meat of their brand new lamb for a great value!

Our bill came to £58.46 which consisted of two soft drinks, two pints of carling, two carvery dinners (£10.95) and two king-sized carvery dinners (£14.45).

Find your nearest Toby Carvery here and make sure you try their lamb as part of their new Autumn/Winter menu and say #welcomehomelamb!

*We were given a £50 voucher to use for the four of us to enjoy a complimentary Sunday roast as part of the #welcomehomelamb campaign. All words, photos and lamb loving are my own*
