A Sneak Peek Inside The Watling Street Village, Towcester

AD – PR Invite: I was kindly invited to the soft launch of The Watling Street Village but I am under no obligation to write about this – I just thought you’d like to see a sneak peek!

WHAT A GLOW UP!

After closing back in March due to the Covid 19 pandemic, many were wondering when the building that was previously known as 185 Watling Street would open again, following the government’s announcement that all pubs and restaurants would reopen from the 4th July.

Josh and I were worried as it was the place we had our first date when we met for the first time; so it was worrying to think there was a possibility it could shut down.

They kept very quiet and didn’t make any announcement on when we would expect them to reopen.

Finally, the clues started to come in, starting with an announcement that they wouldn’t be opening in July and instead would open much later after an extensive refurb, following swiftly with all their social media channels changing from 185 Watling Street…

To The Watling Street Village.

We were kindly invited to the soft launch and after seeing all the hints and exciting plans being announced, I was THRILLED to be one of the first to go and visit and see the completely new look, feel and concept.

Back last year, previous owners The Epic Pub Co sadly went into administration which meant Urban Village Pubs took over.

After speaking to the staff members, it was clear that what everyone knew as 185 Watling Street was no longer working and the general public wasn’t feeling the upmarket, slightly overpriced vibe any more…

Come in Urban Village Pubs who have literally changed everything you knew about the place into something totally different… for the better!

They have gone full classic pub vibe; from urban chalk drawings as part of the decor, intimate seating booths, a full on cocktail and drinks bar, to a menu that offers everything you could want at a price you can get on board with.

We were seriously impressed with the changes, although if you had visited previously, you will spot nods to the place it was once before, for example, the classic wolf in a top hat portrait – my personal favourite.

Take a look inside and see for yourself…

We also ventured around all the rooms and they all possess such character and are all suitable for all different occasions.

It was also nice to see that there were plenty of screens up between tables to encourage social distancing and safe dining.

Plus, upstairs, you can hire the private dining rooms where there’s even a ping pong table available for private parties and conferences!

The other thing we were seriously impressed with was how much was on the menu, all the special food and drink offers available throughout the week and how cost-effective it was.

They’ve got everything from gourmet burgers (including vegan options!) stone baked pizzas (which we were able to taste ourselves) to nibbles such as BBQ chicken wings, ribs, spicy halloumi fries and much more!

Drinks include a range of cocktails, long drinks and mocktails, draft and craft beer, wine, spirits, coffee and much more – I even asked for a Pornstar Martini which wasn’t on their menu, so they’re happy to make requests!

From 2-4-1 cocktails on a Friday, two for £13 pizzas on a Tuesday and Burger and Craft Beer on a Sunday for £10 – plus big screen TV’s offering Sky and BT Sports, they have every reason for you to visit throughout the whole week.

We were also impressed that there is an app available which you can download and use to order from the comfort of your table, pay and even gain points from every £1 you spend.

They’ve got everything covered and I think The Watling Street Village is going to be talked about a lot amongst the Towcester residents and Northamptonshire.

The Watling Street Village is open from TODAY so make sure you go and visit whether it’s for drinks, lunch, dinner, breakfast, nibbles and more!

They are also part of the Eat Out to Help Out scheme during August so book in quick as they’re getting full!
