If you’re looking for ways to shop online and still support local, this is the guide for you!
Christmas is here and like many of us, once it hits November, we are already thinking about our plans for the festive season. It’s going to be a lot different this year compared to normal and with many businesses shut due to the pandemic and the England lockdown – now is more important than ever to shop local.
It’s very easy to find anything you want on websites like Amazon, as the delivery is usually quick and easy. However, there are businesses out there who solely rely on online orders now a whole month’s worth of customers coming into their shops is no longer an option.
Sure, the delivery might take a bit longer, but the rewards and wonderful customer service received from a small business are so worth it!
Plus with all the uncertainty of lockdown and Tier 2 restrictions, I can see why some people might still feel anxious to head to the shops.
That’s why I thought I would put together this guide of how you can shop online from some of your favourite Northamptonshire businesses during lockdown 2.0 and in prep for Christmas.
I have a bunch of Christmas guides coming soon, but I thought I would get as much info out as possible so you’re fully prepared!
Here is your guide to shopping online in Northamptonshire (click on each section below to skip straight there!)
Gifts & Homeware
Mooch are one of your go-to’s when it comes to finding lovely homewares, candles, cushions, printed frames and so much more.
Whilst their shops in Towcester, Northampton, Kinfgsthorpe (Bell of Northampton) and most recently, Rushden Lakes in Northamptonshire, Mooch have an online shop where you can order online where they can offer delivery or click and collect.
They take 2-3 days to send orders out and delivery is free on orders over £75 and minimum order is £10.
On top of that, Mooch may be offering virtual personal shopping events via Zoom so you can get an idea of what’s on offer before you buy!
Check out their lovely online shop on their website here.
Sister in law team, Bumblebee Interiors are a small business who stock and provide beautiful home decor and gifts for the home that just make you swoon to be honest! There’s something for everyone, but I love how country house-esque their items are.
From kitchen and dining table decor, cushions, door knockers and more. There’s something truly unique for everyone when you browse. They operate an online shop and are able to offer local delivery.
You can shop via their online shop on their website here or you can check out their Instagram to shop their products too.
The wonderful Courtyard Shops in Brackley is such a delight to venture into and you never quite know what treasure you will find inside!
Whilst lockdown is happening, all the individual shops and sellers are shut, but that won’t stop you from shopping with them!
Current traders include independent shops like It’s All Rosie Cakes, Blue Butterfly Designs, Natural Pampering and more!
Currently, each individual shop is advertising on the Courtyard Shops Facebook page about their Click and Collect slots. All you have to do is place your order via their individual websites or pages on their website and upon check out, you can state when you would like your click and collect slot to be.
Check out the Courtyard Shops on Facebook to see information from individual traders for collection and delivery options.
Nothing is stopping the guys at Vintage Guru in ensuring they spread a bit of cheer during lockdown and ahead of Christmas!
Matthew has been really active on social media, giving their followers an insight to what wonderful gifts are currently inside their shop. If you’ve not been inside before, expect a whole range of wonderful traders specialising in home decor, clothing, gifts and much more.
Currently, they are offering a click and collect service which Matthew details all about in this video here – if you see something you like on the page, just message them and they will arrange a click and collect slot for you.
You can also enquire about delivery if you live locally too.
Check out their Facebook page here for more information.
Magic Bean Emporium
If you’re a big Harry Potter fan, you are going to LOVE this spell-binding magical gift idea!
I really feel for the guys at Magic Bean Emporium as they’ve not managed to catch a break during lockdown, after they’ve been preparing to open their magical new coffee shop at the Northampton Train Station, they have found themselves closed again.
As the only official Harry Potter licensed gift retailer in Northampton, they have some Christmas Harry Potter gift sets available ranging in size.
All gift boxes/bags comprise of licensed Harry Potter merchandise and confectionery and the sets contain a surprise selection of mugs, sweets and stationery. All gifts can be delivered.
They will be available on their website very soon, but for now, you can still shop for some over HP merchandise including chocolate wands, travel mugs and more!
The Bean Hive
If you know, you know The Bean Hive is the cute pink shop situated in the heart of Kettering high street. Whilst it’s currently closed, you can still shop online and gather all your quirky gifts during lockdown and in prep for Christmas!!
They have all sorts of gifting options available from home decor like cushions, pots & plants, candles & home fragrances, to cards & stationery, eco-friendly gifts and stuff for the babies too!
If you are local and can travel to Kettering, The Bean Hive are doing a click and collect service for free at the shop every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 1pm – 4pm. You can also buy online for postage (spend over £60 for free postage).
I’ve already got my eye out for Christmas cards, so The Bean Hive will be one place I check out!
Head to their website to browse their full range of products to shop online.
The Model Shop
One for the big kids at heart – The Model Shop is your place for all things toys, model railways, kits, scalextrics and everything else!
I have huge fond memories of playing scalextrics at Christmas time with the family, so if you’re looking for something to keep you occupied during lockdown, this is certainly a good place to go.
They have a website of which they currently have an online shop where you can place items in your basket and get them delivered. They are also doing a click and collect too if you’re able to head to Wellingborough Road in Northampton.
Another really delightful gift shop based in Kettering that if you’ve not had the pleasure to visit beforehand, is one to certainly add to your list of independent places to check out for gifts and more!
Currently, the shop is closed which is filled with unique gifts, jewellery, accessories and handmade items from a selected number of traders. You can still shop online, as No1 Horsemarket will be posting their products on their Facebook page and Instagram for you to browse.
They are currently offering click and collect, so if you see anything you like, you can message their page and arrange a time to collect and pay.
Or if you’re not able to head to Kettering, they will also be offering free local delivery, including next day delivery.
Check out their Facebook page to find out more and enquire about deliveries and click and collect.
Another gorgeous independent gift shop for all your online shopping needs!
Genevieve Gifts is a small and unique gift shop, who like many, rely on this time of year to keep going during the festive period and like many, have had to adapt to selling online.

They will be offering delivery & postage, as well as local delivery and click and collect slots too.
You can find out more on their Facebook page about delivery and C&C.
During the lockdown, many of our independent garden centres remain open as they are classed as an essential service selling essential items. Here are a few selected one’s where you’re able to visit and buy your supplies but also the one’s where you can shop online:
Bosworth Gardren Centre
Bosworth Garden Centre is an independent garden centre based in Burton Latimer and they will be open during the lockdown, however, you can also buy online via their online shop and they can accommodate for local & national delivery, as well as click and collect.
This time of year, Bosworth is preparing for Christmas so this is one of the places worth considering buying from, especially as their real Christmas trees are available to pre-order now.
Bell Plantation based in Towcester will remain open during the lockdown. This includes their garden centre, food hall and poultry centre which you can still shop from whilst following the government guidelines i.e. wearing masks.
However, you can also shop online via their website for local delivery and for click and collect for anyone who can’t visit them.
They just managed to host their Christmas preview evening before the lockdown started, which gave a wonderful example of how you can decorate and dress your home for Christmas, so it’s well worth supporting an independent family-run garden centre when thinking about Christmas.
Beckworth Emporium is the contemporary gardening and food emporium that houses local produce, a wonderful array of gifts and home and garden decor.
During lockdown, they will be open where you can still come and visit to get all your home, garden and gifting needs. However, whilst you can’t browse and shop for their products online, you can purchase some of their gift vouchers.
All their gift vouchers are suitable to use in all departments of the Emporium and make for a lovely gift for anyone who loves shopping there.
Specific ones include their Afternoon Tea vouchers, which will be ideal once they reopen the restaurant for a festive tea – plus, you can get vouchers for their Beckworth Emporium Cosmetics range too.
Popsy & Peanut
If I had a baby or child, I’d be shopping here all the time!
Popsy & Peanut are an independent baby and children’s boutique based in Towcester who are stockists for many known names like Joules, Frugi, Hatley and many more. It’s your go-to place for baby and children’s clothes, gifts, toys and more.
For Lockdown, they will be switching to an online service with various delivery and collection options available.
Click and collect will be available from the shop and you can select this option when checking out on their website. They will then contact you to arrange a date and time.

They will be offering drop off doorstop deliveries for their customers who live locally and in the Kettering area.

Clothing & Accessories
Dainty Rocks Jewellery
Some of the most dainty (literally!) jewellery I have ever seen and think will make such a lovely present for your nearest and dearest.
Dainty Rocks Jewellery was created and run by Diane, who makes the most gorgeous elegant and personalised birthstone jewellery which she hand crafts in sterling silver and are made in Northampton.
She can create your personalised birthstone jewellery in necklace or bracelet form and she makes all sorts of different variations, so no piece is the same. Her business mainly operates online so she can accommodate local deliveries.
She also has a stand at Vintage Guru, who will be accommodating Click and Collect too – so if you see anything you like on her shop, the guys at Vintage Guru can sort that out for you.
Daisy B Boutique
Daisy B Boutique is based in Daventry and specialises in ladies clothing from sizes 10 – 22. They have such lovely pieces of clothing and accessories and like many, they are now operating an online service.
They are constantly updating their lines on their website and are very active on social media, so you always know what’s new in! During the first lockdown, they were doing virtual shopping experiences on their Facebook page where you can see for yourself what they had in stock of which you could enquire when you spotted an item you like.
They will be offering video calls so you can shop with Daisy B’s yourself – you can make an appointment by messaging them on 07376 662202!
They will also be offering Click and Collect on their items from the shop too!
Pink Clouding Co
Pink Clouding operates solely online, but there’s no reason why you shouldn’t continue to support this badass gal and her business!
Emma has added a load of lockdown goodies as well Christmas bits on her website, including every person’s favourite lockdown attire: a onesie! I will always find something that I love on Emma’s website as her products are always so relatable with their quirky slogans!
You can order via her Instagram shop or you can check out her website to see her range of products.
Food & Drink
St Giles Cheese
One of my favourite cheese and local produce shop ever!
I’m so glad they are operating and are able to do so online. No Christmas (or lockdown) isn’t complete without lots of nibbly bits including cheese from Hamm Tun Fine Foods, cured meats and all the chutneys you can think of to complete your grazing table.
Whilst they are still open to go inside, as they are providing an essential service, you can still take advantage of their online services.
You can order online via their social media pages on Facebook and Instagram and you’re able to come and collect from their shop.
They will also be taking advantage of Northampton BID’s ‘Phone or Click & Collect service’ which is running at a collection point at 64 St Giles Street, so you can order via St Giles Cheese and go and collect.
Northamptonshire’s newest distillery is *almost* open for business and despite planning their opening launch date only for lockdown to stop their plans, it hasn’t stopped them from providing an online shop.
Silverstone Distillery hand-distills their own premium spirits with highly unique ingredients and now operate an online shop which includes products like their Heritage Oak Rested Gin, Smoked Wild Apple Vodka and even a Military Spirit Gin.
If you fancy becoming a member of their founders club, they are also selling memberships on their online shop too!
Visit their website here for more information about ordering and delivery.
This is your go to for finding the finest local artisan food providers in your area!
No need to stumble through the supermarket for your essential bits, as Local Grocer’s have a great range of local producers as well as their own shop, where you can buy all your food and drink necessities from the comfort of your home.
Local producers in Northamptonshire include Collins Fresh Produce, Hamm Tun Fine Foods, Spread and many more!
I made a huge order recently and let me tell you, you will be sorted for Christmas if you’re thinking about getting all your local bits in!

Her work doesn’t stop there, as she can also make some pretty impressive balloon displays and bouquets for special occasions.
Wilder Floral Design
A wonderful little independent flower shop based in Brixworth, Wilderfloral Design is a small shop with big ideas, especially for Christmas!
As of now, they have some beautiful wreaths available to purchase via their Instagram where you can DM to order. I’ve had the pleasure of receiving a few bunches of flowers from Wilder Floral and I am never disapointed by the quality!
If you’re looking for wonderful displays for an occasion or a party for your bubble, Bloombox Events run by the lovely Gemma is the one for you!
Currently, Gemma is still operating and is able to make beautiful balloon displays and bouquets for any occasions and with Christmas coming up, she’s a solid choice if you’re looking to spruce up your house!
Back when we were able to host big events, Gemma did a wonderful Christmas Wreath balloon display for our Northamptonshire Christmas event last year and it was so festive and incredible!
Hampers & Gift Boxes
Lovingly Wrapped is a Gift Wrapping service that offers a variety of options for wrapping individual gifts and a range of seasonal gift hampers.
I think this is the perfect idea, especially if you’re feeling the pressure of Christmas and you’re not able to get everything done due to the current circumstances! You can simply send them a message on their Facebook page to arrange a delivery/collection of your Christmas presents to be wrapped.
Alternatively, they can wrap your selection of goods for you in a hamper creating that perfect gift. You can even have your presents placed in a treasure trove hamper!
No lockdown/Christmas/basically any time of the year is complete without a Spread from Amy!
She has taken Northampton by storm with her incredibly colourful and creative spread boxes from savoury to sweet and she is predominately an online service, taking orders via her Instagram page as well as most recently from her brand new website!
There’s a spread box for everyone and you can order via their DM’s and delivery is available anywhere within a 10 mile radius from NN1 5LU but you can arrange collection too!

The Copper Kitchen are very busy this festive season with pre-order delivery dates available for their Christmas range of Afternoon tea, brownie, cupcake and other delicious treat boxes. You can never go wrong with a treat box from Gemma as she always nails them!
She is also offering Christmas Eve boxes too, which is perfect if you’re like me and love making the occasion of Christmas Eve!
Made in Towcester
For lovely wax melt gift boxes, Made in Towcester has a wonderful selection of festive wax melts that come with tealights and a wax melt burner for as little as £10!
I thoroughly recommend the Gingerbread and the Apple & Cinnamon flavours! You can order via Laura’s Instagram page and she can arrange delivery or you can arrange to pick up if you’re local to Towcester.
Check out her Instagram here.
This is one of the biggest guides I have ever put together and with Christmas coming up, it’s more important than ever to buy local, otherwise, it’s bye local!
