Don’t you just love a print to decorate your home or a cosy space with?
I have to confess: ever since I moved into my own house, I have grown an obsession with putting a print everywhere in my home.
Have a shelf? Print
Have a plain wall? Print
Have a space on my desk? Print
Wherever there’s a room in my house, there’s a print somewhere!
I just love them as they bring a character to any space and there are so many small businesses who make some beautiful ones!
And over the last year or so, I have collected quite a few different prints from lots of local small businesses in Northamptonshire (and beyond!) but obviously I want to highlight the ones in the county, whether it be businesses I’ve purchased from, or constantly have in my basket waiting to buy.
I have a whole blog post on local interiors and decors I’ve purchased to make my house into a Northamptonshire home if you’re looking for inspiration on what to fill your home with.
The Wishful Luxury Shop
The Wishful Luxury Shop is owned by Jennifer, who you may know from The Wishful Luxury as a blogger, but she also has her own shop where she designs some lovely, personalised items, some of which we have used to decorate our home.
One of the key pieces that caught my eye was her Personalised Heart Map Print where I was able to choose what I wanted printed on it, the date and the location on the map.
Obviously, I decided to choose the place where Josh and I first met and the date – which was what was known as 185 Watling Street on 5th December. It hangs beautifully in our bedroom and it’s truly a sentimental piece.
Other pieces from The Wishful Luxury I have in my home include her lovely home print and even a Christmas print she kindly gave me last year which comes out during the festive season.
Robyn Draws Stuff
When I first discovered Robyn on Instagram, I immediately fell in love with her illustrations.
Robyn Draws Stuff is owned by Robyn Ward who is originally from Milton Keynes but now lives in Towcester and is a professional illustrator who creates unique personalised home decor and gifts.
She first approached me to gift me a personalised Gin & Tonic drink print, which obviously, I had to go for a Warner’s Rhubarb Gin with Elderflower tonic – one of my faves!
Because I was so impressed with her work, I then went onto purchase a bespoke illustration of our house, to mark our first year living together and when she showed me the finished piece, I almost burst into tears as she captured our house beautifully!
It was a really lovely way to mark the occasion.
There’s no stopping Robyn now as she’s expanding her range of items from gift wrap, post cards, trio of prints… who knows what else Robyn will do!
The lovely Farrah is a Graphic Designer based in Northamptonshire who specialises in logo design and brand identify for small businesses and established brands.
But she also makes some lovely bespoke prints, including my own custom artwork, prints and merchandise that Farrah designed especially for me!
Her prints are colourful, bold and make an impactful statement and Farrah kindly made me some frames prints with ‘NN’ and ‘Navigating Northants’ which look great on my office wall; the place where most of my blogging happens, which is quite fitting!
Farrah has designed lots of logos for other local businesses such as Reset Organic and our merchandise is available to purchase on her website.
Cute Maps is primarily based in Milton Keynes, however, they make some stunning South Northamptonshire based prints for anyone who lives in this area and wants to add a local stamp to their home.
Cute Maps is owned by Sheree who started the business in Manchester, but became so passionate about her hometown, she decided to create bespoke map prints of the MK and South Northants area. She also makes bespoke map invitations for events and weddings, business designs such as a map for Whittlebury Park and much more.
I adore my South Northamptonshire map print which takes pride of place at the top of my shelf in my kitchen. It includes towns and local landmarks including Castle Ashby, Towcester Racecourse, Northampton Museum & Art Gallery and much more.
You can check out Cute Prints on their website here or you can also find them on Instagram.
Me & Maggie
Another lovely Etsy business based in Northampton: Me and Maggie, run by Lucy Randell.
They make cards and prints, aimed to make you smile and they are all so colourful, bright and full of fun!
I was kindly gifted a lovely print from Me & Maggie which couldn’t have been more perfect for me: What’s for Brunch? I’m yet to find a frame for it, but I know it’s going to make a lovely addition to the home office.
She also gave me some lovely cards which are always super handy to have for any occasion to send to friends and family. Lucy can also make bespoke illustrations and designs which you can order via her Etsy store.
You can also find Me & Maggie on Instagram.
Hey Gherkin (such a cool name) is a small business based in Kettering, founded and run by Lauren, who designs embroidery and cross stitches as well as being open for commissions for prints.
I was kindly gifted some prints from Hey Gherkin when I had my home Instagram account (still considering whether to re-open that account or not) but they were so good at catering to the colour scheme of my living room and they based their designs on my leaf cushion covers I have.
And the results were these lovely prints: one which contains mine and Josh’s initials and one of our house number. They really filled the space next to our cabinet well as I was struggling to find something to fit there.
I think Hey Gherkin has some creative designs which you can check out on their Instagram.
Coulson Macleod are a Kettering based personalised gift and card small business who really do make your home look so swish and stylish with their range of prints.
They have a range of prints from wise words, family, relationship and friendship ones, to bespoke town and city ones if you’re looking for a specific location.
We have two from Coulson Macleod, one of which I purchased before we moved into our house and one my mum kindly bought me. We have a Towcester and a Northampton home print with different quotes on. We’ve placed both in our living room which really make a statement.
They also have a range of stationery, home accessories and mugs too – there’s always something lovely to shop for on their site.
You can find their prints in Mooch stores in Northampton, Towcester and Olney or you can order on their online shop.
Have you purchased any prints from any local small businesses in Northamptonshire? Let me know in the comments below – I am open to suggestions too as I’m always wanting to find more for my home!
